Tattoo Artist Magazine Feature — Chris Cockrill

tattoo artist magazine interview with Chris Cockrill

March 2026 cover

I was recently featured in Tattoo Artist Magazine.Appreciate being included in it. Its great to see them back at it again.

If you were tattooing in the early 2000s you know what TAM meant. High-end production, long-form content, written for tattooers who actually wanted to go deeper in the craft. Not trends, or highlight reels, real shop knowledge. I still have a stack of the old issues and they hold up. Collector pieces at this point, the amount of useful information and rad artwork packed in there.

It went quiet for a while and seeing it back and producing content at that level again is genuinely great for the trade.

This particular section is behind a paywall, built for working tattooers looking to go deeper on tools and technique, but there's a free trial if you want to have a look. The interview covers machine building and tuning, how I approach consistency in application, and how my thinking around tools has developed over time.

If you're a client, the short version is that being featured here is the kind of thing that happens when you've spent a long time caring about the technical side of tattooing, not just the aesthetic side.
