Your tattoo Questions Answered
How Do I Book an Appointment?
Appointments can be scheduled directly on my website by clicking here.
If you’d like to discuss your tattoo ideas before scheduling, book a free consultation. Some ideas can be discussed via email, but more in-depth conversations are usually done in person at the shop. Other arrangements can be made for clients who live far away.
Do You Do Cover-Ups?
Yes! Every cover-up is unique, so it’s best to book a consultation. Together, we’ll figure out the best approach for your specific situation.
How Far Do You Book Out?
I usually book no more than 3 months in advance to keep scheduling manageable.
What Are Your Rates?
My rate is $200 per hour.
The minimum charge is $150, which covers the first 45 minutes of tattooing.
Pricing is based on the time it takes to complete your tattoo.
Deposits:
A $100 deposit is required to book an appointment (larger deposits may apply for bigger projects).
Deposits go toward the final cost of your tattoo. For multi-session tattoos, the deposit will be applied to your last session.
Deposits must be sent as soon as a date/time is agreed upon to secure your appointment; otherwise, you risk losing your slot.
Rescheduling Policy:
A 5-day notice is required to reschedule your appointment.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
Your deposit may be forfeited if:
You don’t show up to your appointment.
You cancel or reschedule without giving at least 5 days’ notice.
You arrive more than 20 minutes late without a call or text.
You arrive without government-issued ID.
You arrive intoxicated.
Note: If you feel sick, please reschedule. Your deposit will remain valid and won’t be forfeited.
Touch-ups, if needed, are FREE within the first year.
Does Getting a Tattoo Hurt?
Pain levels vary from person to person. Most describe the sensation as manageable and similar to a sunburn. Since the process involves depositing ink into the dermis (the second layer of skin), some discomfort is normal.
Proper aftercare, along with guidance from your San Diego tattoo artist, will help minimize discomfort, which typically fades within a few days.
How Much Does Getting a Tattoo in San Diego Cost?
Tattoo costs vary based on size, complexity, and the artist’s experience. Remember: a tattoo is a lifelong investment. Prioritize quality and craftsmanship when deciding on your budget.
I Want a Tattoo, What’s Next?
I Don’t Know What to Get. Where Should I Begin?
Start by brainstorming ideas based on your interests, passions, and personal style. Browsing photos online or in tattoo magazines can also spark inspiration.
Once you have a general idea, schedule a consultation to discuss your vision. Together, we’ll bring your ideas to life.
What Kind of Tattoo Should I Get and Where?
Choosing a tattoo is personal, so pick something meaningful and timeless. If you’re unsure, a consultation with your San Diego tattoo artist can help refine your vision, create custom designs, and suggest the best placement based on your lifestyle and desired visibility.
Best Time of the Year to Get a Tattoo?
You can get a tattoo any time of the year. While some suggest winter is ideal, the timing doesn’t matter as long as you follow aftercare instructions and avoid sun exposure during the healing process.
Can I Donate Blood If I Have a Tattoo?
Yes, people with tattoos can usually donate blood. However, in some cases, you may need to wait 12 months after getting a tattoo.
This waiting period applies if you received your tattoo in a location where tattoo facilities aren’t regulated, such as:
D.C., New York, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Idaho, Georgia, Nevada, Massachusetts, Maryland, Utah, or Wyoming.
If you’ve had a tattoo in one of these locations in the past year, you’ll need to wait before donating blood.
How Long Does Tattooing Take?
The time required depends on the tattoo’s size and complexity:
Small tattoos: Often completed in a single session.
Large tattoos: May require multiple sessions.
During your consultation, your San Diego tattoo artist will discuss your design, estimate the number of sessions needed, and work with your schedule to complete your tattoo at your preferred pace.
Do You Accept Credit Cards?
Yes! I accept various forms of payment, including credit cards. Apps like Zelle and Square make it easy to process payments directly.
